Hello and welcome!
I received my M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida, I then went on to obtain my doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University. I have been practicing for over ten years in the Tampa Bay area and have loved every minute of helping all those in need of guidance.
I began teaching bachelor and master level psychology courses in 2006. Teaching allows me the opportunity to not only impart knowledge on others, but to also learn and keep very up to date within my field. I believe in the power of knowledge, and want each of my clients to understand what is happening in the therapeutic process. In addition to teaching university courses, I also teach and provide certification for the required ‘Parenting and Stabilization Course’ for those individuals currently going through the divorce process…this is the 4 hour required course in the state of Florida.
I utilize the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach. This allows me to help guide individuals based on their perspectives, past experiences, and current behaviors. Utilizing these areas of our lives helps us recognize where our thoughts, perspectives and behaviors (negative or positive) stem from, thus allowing us to understand where change may need to be made, and how that change may be possible.
I work with adolescents and adults in many areas including anxiety, depression, coping skills, parenting, communication, grief and loss, OCD, and life decisions.
